Meet the Members of the Farm
Pan
The largest puppy dog you will ever meet. He's treat hound and loves cheek scratches under his halter. Although he is very athletic and loves to jump, he is a true babysitter to those who ride him. Often his big stature is intimidating but he will usually be in the back of the trail slowly walking with his rider, occasionally bobbing his head up and down to shake up the juices in there. Once you give him a treat he will follow you to the ends of the earth.
Juno
Coming from a hard life as an Amish plow horse, She didn't know what it meant to be with other horses or to have gentle hands touch you with love and affection. She took a while to warm up, but is truly loving life. She is a gentle lady who eagerly walks up for belly scratches in the summer and will shaker her leg like a dog when you find the right spot. She has a powerful step but a sweet disposition and has some beautiful movements when you ask the right way.
Belle (Princess Bell)
At an age of wisdom (23 years young), she is still full of sass and makes her opinions known. Being the oldest does not by any means make her an old lady, she has a lovely forward movement. Her sitting trot will make you feel like you are floating and loves to frame up and show her fancy side, especially for children. She is a perfect Princess in every way and loves attention.
Duck
While not owned by Dark Spring, Duck is a long term and well loved resident of the farm. Her background in reining and team penning make her a fun and spunky woman. She adores children and will follow them all around the field and actually enjoys pony rides. She is a fast little girl but can turn on a dime. She has a pep in her step but a quick response to her rider, when asked to walk slower or make a u-turn she will gladly hit the breaks, but I do have to say her gallop feels like you are flying.
Zeus
The head of the herd, with his short stature and wide build he exudes confidence. He doesn't take flack from anyone. One of the most comfortable horses to ride (especially bareback) he is the epitome of a middle aged man. He will walk at his pace, he can be made to trot and canter, but his main speeds are stop and walk. He will eat treats all day and still act like he hasn't eaten a day in his life.
Persephone (Sweet P)
The youngest member of the herd is the by far the cutest. Persephone was gotten at auction because of her incredibly level head and sweet tempermant even as a weanling filly, Now 10 months old, she is fearless and is willing to try anything. She has come into the house, been to the winery, and frequently decides to visit the neighbors sheep and goats. I cannot wait to see what the future holds for this brilliant girl.
Minnerva & Zag
The best farm dogs you could ask for. Minnerva is an expert huntress and champion of the skunk perfume. She is an asset at killing groundhogs, moles, skunks, and the occasional goose, keeping the horses safe in the field from breaking. Zag on the other hand is all looks a maybe some brain cells. He is full of barks and loves to run around new people and give kisses. He uses his entire brain for mischief and can open every door in his way.
Barn Kitties
The Barn kitties are an all female team of bandits who are renown for their cutness and murder mittens. They work together all over the farm to control the smaller vermin populations that are below Minnerva's scope of work. They maintain the cleanliness of the feed room and all small areas of the farm.
Chickens
Chickens here eat all the food and plant scraps from around the farm. In return we get all the eggs we could ever desire. Some green, blue and brown but all delicious. These ladies also have their own opinions and will be very upset if one is late to feed them and let them out of their coop in the morning.
The horses are waiting to meet you! Check out our trail options and make a reservation TODAY.
